Frequently Asked Questions : Reynolds® Parchment Paper

Frequently Asked Questions

Which side of Reynolds® Parchment Paper should I use?
It makes no difference which side of the parchment paper you use - both sides have an identical non-stick surface.

What is the difference between Reynolds® Parchment Paper and Reynolds® Cut-Rite® Wax Paper?
Reynolds Parchment Paper can be used to line cookie sheets for baking cookies. Reynolds Cut-Rite Wax Paper should not be used for lining cookie sheets for baking cookies. Wax paper cannot take the heat of the oven and will smoke. Both wax paper and parchment paper can be used for lining cake pans for baking cakes. Because the cake batter completely covers the wax paper, the wax paper will not smoke.

What is the best way to tear off an even sheet of Reynolds® Parchment Paper?
Pull out parchment paper to desired length. Close lid, inserting flap behind parchment paper. Hold carton and tear downward across cutter edge.

What oven temperatures should I use when cooking or baking with Reynolds Parchment Paper?
Parchment paper can be used in a conventional oven at temperatures up to 420°F. Always preheat the oven first. For safety, never touch parchment paper to open flame or use with broiling unit or toaster ovens.

Can Reynolds Parchment Paper be used in a convection oven?
Yes.

How can Reynolds Parchment Paper be used in baking cookies?
Tear off or trim parchment paper to the size needed. Do not let parchment paper hang over the edges of a cookie sheet or touch the oven rack or oven wall.

For cookie sheets that are only half-full, trim excess parchment paper, only using enough paper to accommodate the amount of cookie dough being baked.

Exposed parchment paper will turn darker than the areas around the cookie dough.

While first batch of cookies bake, prepare another batch on a second sheet of parchment. When first batch is done, slide parchment with baked cookies off cookie sheet. Slide second sheet of parchment with unbaked cookies onto cookie sheet and bake.

How can I use Reynolds Parchment Paper in the microwave oven?
To reheat foods such as pizza, burritos, etc. place a small sheet of Reynolds Parchment Paper under foods in the microwave and eliminate messy clean-up. To reheat foods such as vegetables or casserole leftovers, place at least 1/2 cup of food in a microwave-safe dish and cover with a small sheet of parchment paper. Always add 1 to 2 tablespoons water to fresh vegetables.

What is the best way to line a cake pan with Reynolds Parchment Paper?
The best way to line a cake pan is to place pan on a sheet of Reynolds Parchment Paper. Use a pencil to trace around bottom of pan and cut. Fit parchment liner in pan; grease sides, if desired. Fill with batter and bake. After baking; cool cake on wire rack 15 minutes. Invert cake and remove parchment paper.

Do you have a quick tip for how to frost an elegant cake without leaving a messy cake platter?
When cake is cool, slide strips of parchment under edges of cake. Spread frosting over top and sides of cake, using parchment to catch any overflow. Remove parchment strips when complete.
