The Path to Greener Packaging is Clear with New Biodegradable Shrink Film From Reynolds Flexible Packaging
RICHMOND, VA–November 9, 2008–Reynolds Flexible Packaging will launch its newest film innovation, Reynolon® Biodegradable Eco Class Shrink Film, at PMMI Pack Expo in Chicago's McCormick Place from November 9-13 in Booth #S-2607. The new film is designed to biodegrade in landfills where post-consumer packaging film is most likely to wind up. After only a few days of concentrated exposure to microorganisms in independent testing, Reynolon Biodegradable Eco Class Shrink Film demonstrates substantially more degradation than standard Reynolon film and has been certified as biodegradable in an anaerobic environment according to ASTM D5511 by a NADCAP accredited independent laboratory. Like all gauges of Reynolon Shrink Films, the new biodegradable film requires less petroleum-based raw material than common shrink film and offers the same excellent shrink properties, machinability, and trusted packaging protection that is expected from Reynolon Shrink Films.
Reynolon Biodegradable Eco Class Shrink Film provides manufacturers a reasonably priced packaging solution that meets the economic challenge of utilizing environmentally sustainable packaging that does not negatively affect the bottom line, while providing sustainable packaging that both retailers and consumers feel good about when purchasing.
Reynolon Biodegradable Shrink Film can be substituted on most packaging equipment as a replacement for standard shrink film with little to no adjustments necessary. Reynolon Biodegradable Eco Class Film will be available in 50 gauge and up, allowing for enhanced sustainability and economics through sourcing for the lowest gauge possible by application.
